Pipe Descaling Restores Flow and Performance.

Pipe descaling is a specialised process used to remove heavy build-up from the inside of sewer and drainage pipes. Over time, materials such as scale, rust, minerals, grease, and waste can accumulate along the pipe walls, reducing the internal diameter of the pipe and restricting water flow.

This build-up is especially common in older cast iron and metal sewer pipes, where corrosion and scale can create rough surfaces that catch debris and lead to recurring blockages. As the build-up increases, drains may become slow, noisy, or frequently blocked. Urinals often build up with a hard, crystalline buildup called uric salt.

Pipe descaling uses professional cutting and milling equipment to safely remove these hardened deposits and restore the pipe’s internal diameter. Once the pipe walls are cleaned back to a smooth surface, water can flow freely again and the pipe can be properly assessed.

Many cast iron pipes are found within apartments or unit complex’s forming the majority of internal sewer stack work. These are often concealed within walls and concrete floors which are not accessible.

Descaling is often an important preparation step before pipe relining, as it allows the new liner to bond correctly to the inside of the pipe.
